Inheriting research & development background since 1975, SolarBK is proud to be a pioneer in laying the groundwork for clean energy industry in Vietnam and is now a leading company in this field.
To carry out the mission of applying clean energy into everyday life, we have researched and developed many solutions to make Solar power energy more diverse, convenient and cheaper.
As the region and the world shift rapidly toward sustainable development, clean energy is becoming an increasingly vital part of that transformation. Yet two decades ago, when Vietnam was still unfamiliar with the concept of “renewable energy,” choosing this path meant stepping into a challenging field that demanded resilience and long-term commitment.
Among those early pioneers, Mr. Nguyen Duong Tuan – CEO of SolarBK is a prominent figure. Inheriting a research-driven foundation from his family and the academic environment of Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology, he and the SolarBK team began their journey with a clear aspiration: to master clean-energy technology “Made in Vietnam” and bring it into everyday life in a practical, meaningful way.
Mr. Nguyen Duong Tuan and host Thoai Diem in a conversation on HTV’s “For a Greener Life” program.
That journey, as Mr. Tuan often shares, has never been smooth. Clean energy is a sector heavily influenced by policy, market fluctuations, and social awareness. From the days when no formal market existed, to the Fit-in-Tariff boom and the sudden freeze that followed, SolarBK has weathered the full spectrum of challenges. Yet it was precisely in the most difficult periods that the company’s core values emerged clearly: perseverance, responsibility, and a belief in the long-term value of clean technology.
What differentiates SolarBK is not noise or short-term trends, but its chosen path: prioritizing sustainability, grounding every decision in research, and putting users at the center. For SolarBK, clean energy is not just solar panels, it must deliver real value: economic efficiency, long-term system stability, and performance lasting 15–25 years. This is why the company invests consistently in R&D and integrated solutions rather than competing on price alone.
Another foundation of SolarBK’s resilience is its people. Rooted in an academic environment, the team has maintained a culture of dedication, curiosity, and professionalism. Many engineers have been with the company for 10–15 years; others have grown to hold key roles in major energy companies in Vietnam and abroad. This, too, is a way SolarBK contributes to the industry: by nurturing and spreading Vietnamese expertise.
Throughout its journey, some milestones extend beyond business. The project to bring clean energy to the Truong Sa archipelago and the DK1 platforms remains one of the most meaningful memories for SolarBK, a technical challenge, but more importantly, a contribution to the nation. These values have helped the company remain steady amid market volatility.
Looking toward the future of energy transition, Mr. Tuan believes Vietnam possesses significant advantages: abundant natural potential, rising demand from global manufacturers, and above all, strong Vietnamese capabilities in technology. In the era of smart grids, mastering algorithms, the core of modern energy systems — is an area where he believes Vietnam can go far.
