The 802 kWp rooftop solar project at Prime Pho Yen 2 is entering its final stages of completion, marking another milestone in the ongoing collaboration between SolarBK and PRIME Group. Beyond providing a new source of clean electricity, the project demonstrates SolarBK’s approach to delivering solar solutions tailored to the specific requirements of ceramic tile manufacturing, with a focus on energy efficiency, structural safety, and uninterrupted production.
Prime Pho Yen 2: A New Look for the 802 kWp Rooftop Solar System
At Prime Pho Yen 2, the 802 kWp rooftop solar system is gradually taking shape across the factory rooftops, transforming the facility’s appearance and marking another step forward in the partnership between SolarBK and PRIME Group.
Rows of photovoltaic panels stretch across the factory rooftop, creating a new look for Prime Phổ Yên 2
As one of Vietnam’s major ceramic tile manufacturers, PRIME Group has been progressively adopting renewable energy across its factories to improve energy efficiency and reduce emissions from manufacturing operations.
Equipped with more than 1,200 solar panels, the Prime Pho Yen 2 system is expected to generate approximately 730 MWh of clean electricity annually, with an estimated emissions reduction of 481 tonnes of CO₂ per year, based on the emission factor used in the project calculations. Once operational, the system will help reduce grid electricity consumption, support energy cost management, and contribute to the company’s long-term environmental objectives.
For an operating manufacturing facility, however, the value of a solar investment goes beyond installed capacity and projected electricity generation. The system must also be compatible with the existing building structure and operational conditions while minimizing potential disruption to production.
Beyond the Solar Panels: Meeting the Demands of an Operating Factory
Dust, heat, and the need to maintain continuous production are among the defining characteristics of ceramic tile manufacturing. These conditions create specific requirements for the design, installation, and maintenance of rooftop solar systems.
At Prime Pho Yen 2, SolarBK has placed particular emphasis on assessing existing site conditions, evaluating roof structures, examining mounting and connection points, and developing an installation approach suited to the factory’s operational environment.
At Prime Pho Yen 2, SolarBK conducted site surveys, assessed the rooftop structure, and developed a suitable construction plan
One key consideration is minimizing the risk of roof leakage during installation. In a manufacturing facility, roofing issues can affect equipment, raw materials, and production activities. Mounting methods and waterproofing measures therefore require careful technical assessment.
Industrial dust accumulation on solar panels can also affect electricity generation efficiency. This factor must be considered when developing monitoring, cleaning, and maintenance plans for the system’s operational phase.
Throughout project implementation, SolarBK has focused on quality control across installation activities, particularly roof structural safety, waterproofing integrity, and minimizing disruption to factory operations. These considerations are essential to ensuring construction quality and supporting the system’s long-term performance.
To meet these requirements, SolarBK’s project team works closely with relevant factory departments to coordinate installation activities, arrange work areas, and carry out construction in line with actual production conditions.
As the project progresses through its final stages, attention remains focused on installation quality, system safety, and outstanding technical requirements in preparation for commissioning once all necessary procedures have been completed.
Prime Pho Yen 2 illustrates that successful industrial solar deployment depends not only on equipment and system capacity but also on the ability to develop and execute solutions tailored to each facility’s specific conditions.
Building on a Long-Term Partnership for Sustainable Performance
Prime Pho Yen 2 follows the 1,863 kWp Prime Pho Yen 1 rooftop solar project, which is already operational. Upon completion of the new installation, the two systems at Prime Pho Yen will have a combined installed capacity of 2,665 kWp, further expanding the factory’s ability to harness solar energy for manufacturing operations.
Beyond Prime Pho Yen, SolarBK has also implemented rooftop solar projects at Prime Vinh Phuc and Prime Ngoi Viet, gaining valuable experience in the building materials manufacturing sector.
Prime Pho Yen 2 continues the cooperation journey between SolarBK and PRIME Group across multiple facilities
Working across multiple facilities has enabled SolarBK to develop a deeper understanding of customer requirements, from roof structures and manufacturing environments to construction coordination and system operation. This experience provides a foundation for continuously refining solutions to meet different technical and operational needs.
For building materials manufacturers, rooftop solar offers an opportunity to make productive use of existing roof space, generate electricity on-site, and improve energy cost management. However, each factory has its own structural conditions, electricity demand profile, and operational requirements, making a site-specific assessment essential to selecting an appropriate investment solution.
At Prime Pho Yen 2, SolarBK continues to demonstrate a customer-focused approach that prioritizes investment efficiency and operational requirements, from installation quality to the system’s long-term performance.
Drawing on its experience in industrial rooftop solar projects, SolarBK supports businesses throughout the process, from site assessments and electricity demand analysis to solution consulting, system design, and installation tailored to each facility.
