SolarBK in 2026: 20 Years of Pioneering Clean Energy and the Starting Line for a New Journey

Publish date 02/01/2026

Two decades ago, clean energy in Vietnam was almost non-existent. Twenty years later, SolarBK has not only participated in this transformation but has helped shape and lead it, affirming its pioneering role in building a sustainable energy foundation for the country.

By 2026, as the FIT mechanism has phased out, the competitive electricity market is gradually taking shape, and ESG standards, CBAM requirements, and Net Zero targets become mandatory, clean energy is no longer an option for early adopters, it has become a fundamental pillar for business resilience, urban development, and deeper integration into global value chains.

For SolarBK, 2026 holds special significance as it marks 20 years since the company’s establishment (2006–2026). These two decades represent not merely a passage of time, but a long period of accumulated capability, experience, and credibility—laying the groundwork for SolarBK to enter a new phase with greater responsibility, scale, and ambition.

Formation, Development, and Foundational Milestones

SolarBK was founded at a time when Vietnam’s solar market was virtually non-existent. Incentive mechanisms were absent, investment capital had yet to emerge, and the concept of “Net Zero” remained distant. Choosing to bring scientific research into real-world application was therefore a high-risk path. From the outset, the philosophy “Success stems from aspiration” was not a slogan but a guiding principle, reflected in a working approach centered on experimentation, continuous adjustment, and full accountability for every system deployed.

Completing clean energy projects integrated with seawater desalination systems for the Spratly Islands and the DK1 offshore platforms marked a significant milestone in SolarBK’s journey.
This spirit materialized through a series of foundational milestones: the completion of clean energy and seawater desalination systems for the Spratly Islands and DK1 offshore platforms; the deployment of hundreds of industrial-scale solar water heating systems nationwide and the introduction of micro-grid solutions for nearshore islands; pioneering the ESCO model in Vietnam and collaborating with EVN on early-stage solar power programs. In parallel, SolarBK sustained long-term investment in R&D through multiple ministerial and national research projects, establishing a strong domestic technology base.

The establishment of the IREX factory marked a strategic turning point toward self-reliance, bringing “Made in Vietnam” photovoltaic modules to major international exhibitions, exporting to more than 20 countries, and earning industry recognition, including the Outstanding Project for Smarter Europe award at InterSolar Munich. These milestones laid the foundation for SolarBK’s deeper participation in the global clean energy value chain. More importantly, they demonstrate that clean energy development in Vietnam has not been driven by short-term trends, but by long-term accumulation of technology, human capital, and real-world implementation capability.

2025: Building Depth and Defining a New Role

Against the backdrop of an emerging competitive power market and increasingly explicit ESG and CBAM requirements, 2025 saw SolarBK focus on strategic execution in preparation for its next transition. The ESCO NEXT joint venture with Banpu NEXT marked a shift from a traditional EPC role toward comprehensive energy models such as ESCO and PPA, enabling enterprises to access clean energy without upfront capital investment.

Flagship projects across global supply chains—including rooftop solar systems at VinFast, the first carbon-neutral LEGO factory worldwide in Binh Duong, rooftop solar installations for Sedo Vinako, and the nearly 1,000 kWp project for Leading Star integrated with the ERIS energy management platform, have demonstrated that clean energy solutions “mastered by Vietnamese engineers” can meet the most stringent international standards. Alongside projects in textiles, wood processing, and building materials, SolarBK has gradually embedded renewable energy as a governance component and sustainable competitive advantage for Vietnamese enterprises.

At the same time, SolarBK expanded its role in policy dialogue, industry forums, ESG training, education partnerships, and CSR programs, reinforcing its position not merely as a solution provider, but as a partner in shaping sustainable energy infrastructure.

2026: The Starting Line for a New Milestone and Journey

If the first 20 years were about laying the foundation, 2026 marks the beginning of a new development phase for 2026–2030. Rather than scaling through speed, SolarBK has chosen to scale through structure, building ecosystems capable of autonomous operation, measurement, and replication.

SolarBK positions itself as a Green Electricity Retailer, serving millions of households through an ecosystem comprising SolarESCO, SolarGATES, and SolarBK. The goal is to form a network of “distributed power plants” spanning household, commercial & industrial (C&I), and utility-scale levels, while developing the ERIS platform as an infrastructure for energy and carbon credit transactions.

Rather than expanding through speed, SolarBK has chosen to expand through structure, where each ecosystem is capable of operating independently, being measured, and scaled sustainably.
During this phase, priority is placed on optimizing SolarGATES and expanding distribution networks to bring clean energy closer to residential communities. The BigK program targets approximately 20,000 active end users, not merely as solar customers, but as members of a growing green consumption community. As the ESCO and GATES ecosystems expand, the IREX factory will naturally evolve from a manufacturing base into a strategic supplier, strengthening domestic technological self-reliance.

Thus, 2026 is not only a continuation of past achievements, but the starting point of a new growth cycle, where SolarBK builds upon two decades of accumulated foundation to enter a more sustainable, deeply integrated phase of development aligned with Vietnam’s socio-economic progress.

Toward the Sun: An Unceasing Journey of Green Belief

Twenty years are not measured solely by the number of megawatts installed or international awards received, but by the quiet trust of customers and the unwavering dedication of engineers working under harsh sunlight, from the Spratly Islands to factories across all three regions of Vietnam. As we enter 2026, SolarBK extends its deepest gratitude to the partners, customers, and communities who chose to walk alongside us from the days when clean energy was still a distant concept.

The rooftop solar power system at the VinFast factory, Vietnam’s only company listed in the TIME100 Company, stands as a testament to SolarBK’s ability to meet the most stringent standards when technology and project governance are placed at the right level.

The sun continues to shine, and the journey of Green belief will never come to an end.

In a world marked by volatility in energy markets and mounting pressures from climate change, SolarBK continues to choose the path that has shaped its identity from the very beginning: developing real technology, delivering real implementation, and creating real value. We understand that every solar panel installed is not merely a technical component, but a long-term commitment to sustainability for decades to come.

The year 2026 opens not only as a moment of commemoration, but as a declaration of renewed resolve. It marks a shared journey for organizations, businesses, and individuals who refuse to stand on the sidelines of the Net Zero transition, those seeking a development model that balances economic growth with environmental responsibility.

SolarBK goes beyond the role of a solution provider. We stand ready to be a trusted companion and dedicated advisor, supporting our partners throughout this energy transition. From residential rooftops to large-scale distributed systems, every step, however small, when taken with integrity and responsibility, contributes to shaping a new, greener future for Vietnam.

The sun continues to shine, and the journey of Green belief will never come to an end.
