The current green transition trend in luxury hotels and resorts
For many years, energy remained largely in the background of luxury hotel and resort operations. Electricity, hot water, and cooling systems were seen as unavoidable operating costs, rarely linked directly to development strategy or brand positioning. However, as global travel behaviors evolve, the way accommodation facilities use energy is increasingly becoming part of quality assessment standards.
Sustainable tourism is gaining strong momentum, particularly in the premium segment. International travelers, tour operators, and MICE partners are paying closer attention not only to guest experience, but also to carbon footprint, environmental transparency, and emissions management. In this context, energy is no longer a behind-the-scenes factor; it is gradually becoming a criterion that helps hotels maintain competitiveness and strengthen their position within global tourism networks.
At Alma Resort (Khanh Hoa), the clean energy system implemented by SolarBK has helped the property save approximately VND 12 billion in electricity costs each year.
SolarBK and solving the green tourism challenge through operational reality
From an operational perspective, hotels and resorts are among the most energy-intensive facilities, with continuous demand for electricity and hot water to support cooling systems, guest rooms, amenities, and services. This characteristic means that clean energy solutions are only truly effective when integrated directly into daily operations, rather than implemented as symbolic investments. This is also the approach SolarBK has adopted when delivering solutions for the hospitality sector.
At Alma Resort (Khanh Hoa), the clean energy system implemented by SolarBK has helped the property save approximately VND 12 billion in electricity costs each year. Given the scale of operations, the project not only delivers clear financial benefits but also provides a foundation for monitoring energy consumption and progressively managing emissions over the long term.
Meanwhile, in Ho Chi Minh City, Rex Hotel, Saigon Hotel, and Majestic Hotel, long-established properties, have implemented solar hot water systems with capacities of 9,000 liters, 10,000 liters, and 25,000 liters per day, respectively. The application of clean energy in existing buildings demonstrates that energy transition is not limited to new developments, but can be effectively integrated into operational hotels without disrupting service.
These projects reflect a clear trend: clean energy is being embedded into operations as a substantive component, enabling businesses to control costs, stabilize systems, and generate transparent data to meet ESG requirements, particularly Scope 2 emissions related to purchased electricity.

Future outlook: when energy becomes part of brand value
Looking ahead, the role of energy in the luxury hotel and resort industry is expected to continue expanding. As sustainability standards become more deeply embedded in global tourism supply chains, energy will no longer be just a cost consideration, but a key element of brand identity and guest experience. Properties with well-defined energy strategies, based on operational data and measurable performance, will gain advantages when working with international partners and attracting environmentally conscious travelers.
Energy transition in the hospitality sector does not begin with marketing messages. It begins with concrete investment decisions inside each hotel and resort, closely tied to operational efficiency and long-term business vision.
If your hotel or resort is exploring clean energy solutions and would like to assess feasibility based on real operational conditions, please leave your phone number or contact information. The SolarBK team will proactively connect and provide tailored consultation for your property.
