As export-oriented manufacturers face increasing pressure to reduce emissions, meet ESG requirements, and ensure supply-chain data transparency, rooftop solar is gradually shifting from an encouraged solution to an essential part of operational infrastructure.
In Thai Binh, the rooftop solar project at Creative Source Vietnam’s factories, implemented from 2022, clearly reflects this trend. The project’s initial phase was implemented by SolarBK, with the objective not only of adding clean power capacity but also of establishing a stable energy foundation to support long-term manufacturing operations.
SolarBK and the Creative Source Vietnam project – Phase 1 (2021–2022)
Phase 1 of the rooftop solar project at Creative Source Vietnam was implemented across three factory buildings with a total installed capacity of 3.628 kWp, under the ESCO model. The contract was signed in March 2021, with technical specifications finalized in February 2022 before the system officially entered operation.
The project’s initial phase was implemented by SolarBK, with the objective not only of adding clean power capacity but also of establishing a stable energy foundation to support long-term manufacturing operations.
The ESCO model enabled the enterprise to access renewable energy without significant upfront capital pressure, while ensuring that the system was designed, constructed, and operated in line with technical standards suitable for industrial manufacturing environments.
During stable operation, the rooftop solar system at Creative Source Vietnam has recorded an average electricity output of approximately 342,588 kWh per month. This output contributes to an estimated reduction of around 4,481 tons of CO₂ emissions annually, equivalent to planting more than 197,000 trees. These figures demonstrate that the value of rooftop solar lies not only in installed capacity, but in its ability to deliver consistent, measurable energy output that directly supports manufacturing demand.
Laying the foundation for long-term energy and export strategies
Creative Source Vietnam is a 100% foreign-invested enterprise operating in the leather footwear manufacturing sector for export markets. Given its strong dependence on international customers, early investment in clean energy infrastructure is regarded as a strategic step to meet increasingly stringent ESG, emissions, and supply-chain transparency requirements.
During stable operation, the rooftop solar system at Creative Source Vietnam has recorded an average electricity output of approximately 342,588 kWh per month.
From the foundation established during Phase 1, the rooftop solar project at Creative Source Vietnam illustrates how manufacturers are approaching the energy transition in a more practical and results-driven manner, guided by operational performance and market requirements rather than short-term or symbolic initiatives. In this context, rooftop solar is positioned as a long-term component of operational structure, closely linked to competitiveness and the ability to sustain export activities.
